I had a great time appearing on King 5’s New Day Northwest this week to talk about some of the advanced treatment options we’re offering at Proliance Surgeons Puget Sound ENT. It’s always rewarding to have the opportunity to educate our community about how far ear, nose and throat (ENT) care has come and the innovative solutions available right here in the Puget Sound region.
Inspire Therapy: A Game-Changer for Sleep Apnea
During the segment, I discussed Inspire therapy, which has been transformative for patients struggling with obstructive sleep apnea who haven’t been able to tolerate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. This FDA-approved implant works while you sleep to keep your airway open, and the results have been remarkable. Proliance Surgeons Puget Sound ENT helped pioneer this treatment in Washington state and is a Center of Excellence for Inspire, meaning we have extensive training and experience helping patients find lasting relief from sleep apnea.
Radiofrequency Ablation: Relief Without Surgery
We also covered radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules. This is a minimally invasive procedure to shrink large thyroid nodules that are causing symptoms, such as problems swallowing, pressure on the neck, or are visible lumps on the outside. This can also treat single nodules that may be over producing thyroid hormone and causing hyperthyroidism [link]. Using targeted radiofrequency energy, we can treat these nodules with a minimally invasive in-office procedure, under local anesthesia. This offers patients relief without traditional surgery, decreased risk of complications and most return to their routines quickly with minimal downtime.
Accessibility and Convenience
A key theme in our discussion was convenience and accessibility. We serve patients across Seattle, Edmonds and Mill Creek with appointment availability within days or weeks, not months. Many procedures can be done right in our offices, and when surgery is needed, our ambulatory surgery center allows patients a more affordable option with the ability to go home the same day.
