Cochlear Community Event
Special Program – Douglas D. Backous, M.D.
Join us as Dr. Backous shares compelling new evidence indicating a higher incidence of early-onset dementia in people with hearing loss. He will discuss available data on hearing loss and dementia and review key research addressing the role of hearing restoration with hearing aids and cochlear implants in potentially decreasing the risk of memory loss in adults.
Dr. Backous is a board certified Neurotologist with Proliance Surgeons. He attended medical school at the University of Washington and completed his fellowship in Neurotology at Johns Hopkins University. Currently, his medical research interests have focused on implantable hearing device program efficiency for improved patient access and program viability. Dr. Backous currently operates out of PugetSoundENT in Edmonds.
After a 20-minute break for refreshments and discussions among participants, Cochlear staff, and Cochlear Community Volunteers, Dr. Backous will tell us about his practice and his 20+ years of experience as a surgeon.
There will be ample time for sharing, questions and answers.
