USUAL COURSE: Moderate swelling in the back of the throat, sore throat for several days. Muffled sound to voice while swelling is present.

 

PAIN: Tylenol or ibuprofen may be used for discomfort. In some cases, narcotic pain medication may be prescribed.

 

SWELLING: Cold iced or slushy drinks will help reduce swelling. Ibuprofen will also help. In some cases, a steroid may be given.

 

DIET: as tolerated.

 

HAND PIECE: Be sure to keep the hand piece. In some cases, repeat somnoplasty is necessary. We will need your hand piece for any additional procedures.
