After Your Preauricular Cyst Removal

1. NORMAL POST OP COURSE: Usually mild to moderate pain and swelling at the surgical site for 3-4 days after surgery.
2. Protect the incision site from excessive rubbing or friction.
3. Avoid from submerging in standing water, like swimming pools, tub bathing, or hot tubs until sutures have been removed. Sutures will be removed at post op appointment. Showering and washing the incision is fine as long as there is no dressing on incision site.
4. Narcotic pain medication may have been prescribed for you to take as needed. If you decide not to take Narcotic pain medication, you may take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for any discomfort and pain control.
5. If antibiotics have been prescribed to you, take the full prescription until it is finished.
6. If you experience increased redness, drainage or odor from the incision site or if you develop a fever of 101.5, notify our office.

You should have a post op appointment for 1 week after surgery.
